| Day #6: Serravalle del Chienti Tour |
This day is dedicated to the discovery of the small characteristic village of Sefro, cycling up mount Montelago and descending towards Serravalle Del Chienti where signs of a primitive man of the Neolithic period have been found. Later cycling back to San Severino Marche. This route has delicate slopes reaching Montelago which is a plateau at an altitude of 1000 mt. in the heart of the Marches Appenine range, not far from the Umbrian border. It is enclosed between two mountain chains which makes it an ideal place for any type of excursion.
While returning to San Severino Marche we cycle along a state road passing just below Camerino, a medieval town perched on the top of a hill with its interesting stronghold called “Rocca dei Varano” seat of the bishop’s palace and an important university. The distance covered is about 78 Km (48.4 miles). and the route is generally quite demanding with long stretches of uphill slopes and a few short flat stretches.
